In early Dec. -06, I installed MS 2004 Virtual PC on an old spare 10gig HD, set as a slave, then installed my XP pro on the virtual pc, then installed vista trans pack on top of that. I like to play around with open source, freeware, beta software etc. and came up with the idea due to the fact that I consider myself to be a really green newb and didn't want to risk another crash(at least 5 in 2006)leading to a reformat and reinstall. This method has proved successful to me. The vista trans pack looks great and because I loaded it on a virtual pc, if I ever have a problem with it, I can simply delete the entire vitual pc. My primary & slave HDs are small but with a bigger HD, you could simply add a partition, install MS 2004 Virtual PC and safely play with any beta software. Note:I did not use MS 2007 Vitual PC because i figure as green as I am, the '04 version has been used more and therefore has more support in the way of whitepapers etc. Anyway, bottomline: I like the look and feel of the vista trans. pack and have not had any problems with it. My high rating of the software is based on what it really is, a theme.
